  • Dr. Sung is a full Professor at Hanyang University and a physician in the Department of Rheumatology at Hanyang University Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases (HUHRD) in Seoul, South Korea. He holds both an MD and Ph.D. degree from Hanyang University, and after completing five years of Internship and Residency, he underwent two years of post-doctoral fellowship training in rheumatology and clinical epidemiology at HUHRD in Seoul. Dr. Sung also obtained an MPH degree from the Tokyo University School of Public Health while working as a researcher at the Department of Drug Policy and Management at the University of Tokyo in Japan. He returned to Hanyang University as an Assistant Professor in 2007 and was promoted to Full Professor at Hanyang University School of Medicine in 2017. In 2012, he had been to Boston as a research fellow at the Section of Clinical Science, Department of Rheumatology, Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, US.
    Dr. Sung's research interests primarily focus on clinical epidemiology and outcomes research for patients with rheumatic diseases. He manages several prospective cohorts for patients with SLE, Sjogren’s syndrome, RA-ILD, and RA patients who are receiving targeted therapy. He has also conducted several nationwide patient-centered studies for RA, SLE, and OA patients, further demonstrating his expertise and commitment to the field. Dr. Sung has a keen interest in exploring the intersection of human-computer interaction and outcomes research for patients with rheumatic diseases. He is committed to understanding how technology can be used to improve patient outcomes and is dedicated to advancing this area of research.
